Ligao City inaugurates sports complex
LIGAO CITY — The city government formally inaugurated the P35-million sports complex in Binatagan village on Friday evening (November 10).
Mayor Fernando Gonzalez and officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) led the ribbon-cutting ceremony witnessed by employees and athletes.
“We are very proud of putting up this facility. We have done this in pursuit of the excellence of our athletes who have done well in the participation in the Palarong Bicol and Pambansa, as well,” Gonzalez said in her speech at the event.
He said he also wanted to ensure that the athletes continue their enthusiasm for sports using the available facilities in the complex in order for them to excel through the necessary training. He said the city government will also be giving sports equipment to be entrusted to DepEd.
“We pushed for the development of the facility. It is because sports is a vital aspect [of the] educational system and every single centavo spent is worth it [because it is a place] where everybody can enjoy,” he added.
The sports complex has a standard 400-meter, eight-lane track.
