At least 116 third-level police officers of the Philippine National Police finally moved up to higher ranks after the promotions for colonels and generals were stalled for a year after being flagged by the Department of Budget and Management for being excessive.
In a statement on Friday, the PNP said Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., chief of the PNP, administered and donned the ranks on 17 newly promoted star-rank officers on Thursday at a ceremony in Camp Crame.
The highest official promoted was Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta, PNP’s No. 4 as the chief directorial staff.
With Peralta’s promotion, there are now five three-star generals in the PNP: Lt. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, deputy chief for administration; Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria, deputy chief for operation; Lt. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, commander of Area Police Command (APC)-Southern Luzon; and Lt. Gen. Patrick Villacorte, commander of APC-Visayas.
