MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to attend the first-ever National Decongestion Summit on December 6 and 7.

During a Palace briefing, Justice Undersecretary Mico Clavano said the summit will have representatives from Department of Justice, Department of Interior and Local Government, Supreme Court, and some resource persons.

“Only this administration has, I guess, ventured into even starting to solve this problem of ours,” he noted.

The event will be held in Diamond Hotel in Malate, Manila.

The National Jail Decongestion Summit has three goals, said Clavano.

“First is to reduce admissions… Second, increase releases (of prisoners) by legal means; and third, to expand the capacity of jail facilities,” he identified.

The summit will discuss short term and long term objectives to ease overcrowding in prisons.
