MANILA, Philippines 鈥 International non-profit organization CDP has recognized Quezon City as one of 119 cities globally leading the fight against climate change.
Quezon City earned a spot on the CDP鈥檚 A-list from more than 900 cities evaluated.
Quezon City Mayor Maria Josefina Belmonte said the city鈥檚 climate change strategies are designed to be inclusive and responsive to residents鈥 needs.
鈥淲e are truly honored to be part of the A-List cities of CDP. The city鈥檚 climate initiatives are all anchored in our Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan that is made possible with the help of C40 Cities and other stakeholders to ensure that it is inclusive and responsive to the needs of our citizens,鈥 Belmonte said.
Belmonte emphasized the importance of these initiatives, citing the city鈥檚 vulnerable population as a key reason for prioritizing climate action.
鈥淭here are many vulnerable people in our city and it is imperative that we bring the people with us as we gear towards a livable, green, sustainable and climate-resilient future,鈥 she said.
CDP is a not-for-profit organization that runs the global disclosure system for investors,聽companies,聽cities,聽states and regions聽to manage their environmental impacts.
