NTF-Elcac ends regular press briefings due to ‘positive developments’
MANILA, Philippines — The anticommunist taskforce has announced the end of their regular press conference because of “positive” developments in the government’s peace negotiation with the Maoists’ political wing.
Joel Egco, spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac), announced this on Wednesday.
“Perhaps, I should say, that this is going to be an exciting and valedictory episode of ‘Tagged,’” Egco said, referring to the name of their weekly press conference.
Egco also said the NTF-Elcac is expected to announce the “new thrusts of the task force in view of latest positive developments.”
However, Egco said this move does not mean that the NTF-Elcac will stop conducting press conferences altogether.
“We are not seeing the end of NTF-Elcac pressers because we’re just adjusting and changing and we are going to make the announcement soon, [but] ito na po siguro ang huling pagkakataon na ie-ere po natin ang Tagged: Reloaded (this will be the last time Tagged: Reloaded will be aired),” he added.
