Malacañang declares Dec. 26 as special non-working day
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday declared December 26 as a special non-working day to give the people the “full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones.”
The declaration was made under Proclamation Number 425, signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“WHEREAS, the declaration of 26 December 2023, Tuesday, as an additional special (non-working) day will give the people the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones.
“WHEREAS, a longer weekend will encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship leading to a better society. WHEREAS, a longer weekend will also promote domestic tourism,” the proclamation read.

Article continues after this advertisementThe President also directed the Department of Labor and Employment to issue the appropriate circular to implement this proclamation for the private sector.
