“Deck and I have been working together on various reforms ever since he was appointed. I enthusiastically welcome his appointment as Special Assistant to the President. His designation as […] the President’s man on all things related to the economy will also entail stronger coordination of our priorities and programs,” Salceda added.

The congressman likewise stressed the businessman’s credentials to take on the job. Salceda and Go were fellow graduates of the Ateneo de Manila University.

“Prior to entering the business world, Deck was an honor graduate of Management Engineering, my course in Ateneo. He was also editor-in-chief of Ateneo’s student publication, The Guidon. With that background, we have seen eye-to-eye on the overwhelming majority of issues,” the legislator noted.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named Go as his adviser on investment and economic matters last January 20. On Monday, December 18, Go was assigned as head of the OSAPIEA, with the rank of Secretary, as Marcos issued Executive Order No. 49 creating the office.

According to the executive order, the OSAPIEA would implement the  administration’s economic programs while ensuring that the country transforms into a top investment destination.

It is also tasked with making sure that investment pledges that the President secured during various foreign trips are realized and implemented.

Marcos made nearly 20 foreign trips since assuming the presidency on June 30, 2022.

Trade Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said in October that Marcos’ foreign visits have so far resulted in P427 billion worth of foreign investments.

Last February, the Presidential Communications Office said Marcos’ foreign trips have generated P3.48 trillion in investment pledges.
