Livelihood packages distributed to 420 PWUDs in San Juan

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora who is also the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Chairman leads the distribution of Pangkabuhayan Packages to San Juaneño PWUDs as part of their sustainable livelihood program to ensure that these PWUDs will have a steady source of income and can reintegrate themselves to the community.

Manila, Philippines — Mayor Francis Zamora, through the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, distributed livelihood packages to 420 persons who use drugs (PWUDs) at the San Juan City Hall Atrium.

The beneficiaries were mix of currently enrolled and graduates of San Juan City’s rehabilitation program. They have shown commitment to change and have cooperated well in the program.

“Ang programang ito ay ginawa natin sapagkat gusto ko pong magkaroon kayo ng maayos na kabuhayan. Gusto ko po na pagkatapos ng inyong pinagdaanan at naranasan, bumalik po kayo nang maayos sa lipunan na nakakatulong sa inyong mga pamilya, nakakatulong sa inyong mga mahal sa buhay,” said Mayor Zamora during the distribution on Monday.

The PWUDs received 1 sack of 50 kilograms of rice, hygiene kits, 3 dozens of eggs, 3 bags of groceries containing canned goods, coffee, milk, noodles, biscuits, cup cakes, cooking oil, and condiments.

This was part of San Juan’s effort to maintain its having 100% of its barangays drug cleared as they apply by next year to PDEA to be declared as a drug free city.

Puregold also set up their Aling Puring Booth in the area to provide membership cards to all interested recipients.
