LTO suspends license of overcharging taxi driver
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended for 90 days the license of a taxi driver — who went viral for overcharging a foreign tourist P10,000 cab fare at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).
In a statement on Thursday, the LTO said it likewise issued a show cause order against the driver, identified as Arnel Acle, asking him to explain why he should not be sanctioned for violating three provisions of the Joint Administrative Order 2014-01 — overcharging passengers, discourtesy and arrogance to passengers and violation of the franchise.
The LTO also said that it has already coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for his penalties.
The agency added that the company that owns the taxi unit will no longer be allowed to operate at the airport.
After the video went viral recently, LTO said it conducted an investigation that led to the identification of the driver thorough a CCTV footage.

“We are now coordinating with the Philippine National Police and our local offices to locate this man,” the LTO said.
