MANILA, Philippines — On New Year’s Eve, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reminded its personnel and officers on Sunday not to use their firearms during the festivities.

QCPD warned erring policemen that it will “reinforce a zero-tolerance policy for the irresponsible use of firearms,” as it encouraged cops to find alternative ways to celebrate the occasion.

“Those who will be involved in indiscriminate firing will be immediately apprehended and face subsequent charges, both administratively and criminally,” it warned.

“We must ensure the safety of our community to avoid any untoward incidents, and we must serve as an example for the community by celebrating responsibly,” QCPD chief Brigadier General Redrico Maranan said in a statement.

He added the police organization will inspect and confiscate prohibited firecrackers until the end of the revelries.
