No tsunami warning in PH after powerful Japan quake

MANILA, Philippines — The magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Japan on New Year’s Day poses no tsunami threat to the Philippines, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). 

“No tsunami threat to Philippines,” Phivolcs announced on its website.

The powerful earthquake jolted Japan on Monday, triggering a tsunami warning.
