Motorcycle-truck collision in Quezon kills rider and injures two others

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died while two others were injured in a crash along the Maharlika Highway in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Friday, Jan. 5.

Quezon police said in a report Saturday that a motorcyclist identified as alias “Jake”, 32, with a certain “Kendrick”, 31, as a back-rider were hit around 10:30 p.m. by an oncoming truck driven by one alias “Teoderico”, 52, in one section of the highway in Barangay (village) Masin Sur.

Jake, who was not wearing a crash helmet, died on the spot from fatal head and body injuries. Kendrick and Teodorico both sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the truck occupied the opposite lane, which resulted in the collision.
