241 fake documents detected by Immigration in 2023
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Saturday that it has come across 241 fraudulent and counterfeit documents in 2023.
According to the BI Anti-Fraud Section, the forensic documents laboratory has examined birth and marriage certificates, passports, visas, and other documents that were faked for international travel.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco told the public that attempts to fake documents will be detected by their equipment.

“Apart from our immigration officers who are skilled in detecting fraud, fake documents can already be detected by our modern equipment,” Tansingco said.

Article continues after this advertisementThe agency also shared that it had received three news forensic document examination equipment from the Australian government through the Department of Home Affairs of the Australian Embassy which will be used to check fraudulent documents.
“Those who attempt to use spurious documents will definitely be intercepted,” Tansingco added.
