As an agricultural province, Misamis Oriental’s main goal would be to increase the productivity of farmers and bring the province one step closer to eradicating poverty.
He described Misamis Oriental as an agricultural powerhouse; with corn, coconuts, cacao, cassava, banana, mango, coffee, and vegetables as its main products, while livestock farming was also being developed.
The province had increased corn productivity by 16 per cent from the 4.3 metric tons per hectare in 2022 to 5 metric tons per hectare in last year, he said.
Rice productivity also increased by 15.4 per cent from 3.9 metric tons per hectare in 2022, to 4.5 metric tons per hectare in 2023, Unabia said.
