DOE MANILA, Philippines — Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Utilization Management Bureau Director Patrick Aquino on Wednesday said that they are eyeing replacing appliances used in government offices with more energy-efficient units.

Aquino said this initiative is in line with Administrative Order No. 15 issued by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The order is aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).

As stated in the order, “all agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or controlled corporations, are hereby directed, and all LGUS (local government units) are hereby encouraged, to undertake efforts to ensure efficient and judicious utilization of energy.”

Government agencies are also mandated to have energy audits as well as submit an inventory of their offices’ energy-consuming equipment.
