The Department of Tourism (DOT) has earmarked P15 million for a comprehensive assessment of the current condition of the Manila Central Post Office (MCPO) building, which was hit by a for more than 30 hours last May.
The DOT on Friday said a two-part detailed architectural and engineering studies will be conducted through the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
Built in 1926 and completed two years later, the MCPO was designed in the neoclassical style by Filipino architect Juan Arellano, together with Tomas Mapua and Ralph Doane. In 2018, the National Museum declared the post office building an 鈥渋mportant cultural property.鈥 鈥擩ANE BAUTISTA
