MANILA, Philippines 鈥 The said on Wednesday that it has not monitored a destabilization plot against the administration amid a deepening rift between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said they remain focused on their mandate and unaffected by the current political climate, adding, 鈥淥ur PNP chief always tells our cops to ignore political noise.鈥
鈥淚 talked to our chief PNP and he said there鈥檚 no destabilization plot, no coup d鈥檈tat,鈥 she said as she appealed to interest groups to spare the PNP from politics.
Over the weekend, Duterte asked the military and police to 鈥減rotect the Constitution and people鈥 amid efforts to amend the charter through a people鈥檚 initiative.
