MANILA, Philippines —  Lawyer Anthony Abad, the alleged driving force behind the signature campaign for Charter change (Cha-cha), attended Tuesday’s hearing of the Senate committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation.

The Senate panel has summoned Abad over his alleged involvement in the people’s initiative to amend the 1987 Constitution. Abad’s name is supposedly written in the forms used for the signature campaign.

Meanwhile, Sagip partly-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta accused Abad of being a legal adviser of the Senate.

On the other hand, the People’s Initiative for Reform Modernization and Action (Pirma) confirmed that Abad is one of their volunteer lawyers. Pirma also said Abad is one of the pioneers of the people’s initiative.
