The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday approved the filing of a criminal case against owners of M/T Princess Empress and several others for the oil spill in Oriental Mindoro and parts of Batangas province last year.

Named in the complaint are the corporate officers and several employees of RDC Reield Marines Services, Inc., the shipping company that owns and operates M/T Princess Empress, 19 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel, and two Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) personnel.

The Senate on Wednesday approved on second reading a bill pushing for a P100-daily minimum wage increase for private sector workers. 

Senate Bill No. 2534 under Committee Report No. 190 was unanimously approved during Wednesday’s plenary session.

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday said it is already verifying reports of a data breach in a certain education department.

“We have instructed the field offices to run diagnostics and verify if there was indeed a hack,” DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa told reporters through Viber.
