MANILA, Philippines — Friday’s weather is expected to be warm in most of the country due to the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

State weather agency expert Benison Estareja said the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean would be the predominant weather system in the country this Friday as a weakened northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, currently affects only the extreme northern Luzon.

“Umiiral pa din po ang dalawang dalawang weather system sa ating bansa: una na diyan ang mahinang northeast monsoon or amihan na nakakaapekto lamang po sa extreme northern Luzon,” he said in a morning weather report, adding that the northeast monsoon is likely to prevail until next month.

(There are still two weather systems in our country: first, there is the weak northeast monsoon or amihan that only affects extreme northern Luzon.)

“While the rest of the country, mainit na panahon na sinasamahan ng pag-ulan dulot naman yan ng easterlies o ‘yung hanging galing Pacific Ocean,” he also said.

(In the rest of the country, hot weather accompanied by rain is caused by easterlies or the wind from the Pacific Ocean.)

(And for those who are asking if the strong northeast monsoon will return, it is still possible until next month, but there are only two scenarios: either it will be strong, but it will only last for a while, or it will still be weak here in Northern and Central Luzon.)

Due to the weakened northeast monsoon, Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboards for Friday.

Estareja further said that no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas have been monitored within and around the Philippine area of responsibility.
