Poe pushes creation of Bulacan Airport City Eco Zone
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Grace Poe endorsed on Tuesday a bill pushing for the establishment of Bulacan Airport City Economic Zone.
Poe, in her sponsorship speech delivered in a Senate session, said Senate Bill No. 2572 under Committee Report No. 209 aims to usher in a new age of economic opportunities and investments in the province of Bulacan.
“What we are sponsoring today is the next big step—the creation of a special economic zone with the airport project at its heart. No airport is an island. The success of an airport relies on a whole ecosystem of properly run highways and roads, vibrant markets and industries, and seamless collaboration with its neighboring towns and communities,” said Poe.
Poe, who also sits as the chairperson of the Senate committee on public services, said the proposed establishment of an ecozone in Bulacan seeks to follow “success stories” of international airport ecozones such as those in Ireland and South Korea.
“In terms of investments, its goal is to attract a whole array of businesses and institutions ranging from hi-tech conglomerates such as Samsung, to semiconductor manufacturers, battery manufacturers, electric vehicle makers, and other emerging and sustainable technologies,” said Poe.
