MANILA, Philippines 鈥 The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday a downward trend in the number of dengue cases from January to the first half of February.
According to the DOH, there has been an 11 percent decrease in dengue cases nationwide from January 14 to 27, with 7,434 cases compared to the 8,368 cases logged from January 1 to 13.

The numbers have further decreased from January 28 to February 10, where 5,267 cases were recorded, it noted.
鈥淚t is important to note that these figures may be subject to change due to [potentially] delayed consultations and reporting,鈥 the health department said in a statement.

However, the DOH said that 67 dengue-related deaths were logged from January 1 to February 10, making the case fatality rate 0.32 percent.
The DOH reiterated its reminder to the public to strengthen the implementation of the 鈥5S strategy against dengue: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, use self-protection measures, seek early consultation, say yes to fogging where needed, and maintain hydration.
