Two earthquakes jolt Davao Oriental 鈥� Phivolcs

MANILA, Philippines — Two earthquakes with magnitudes measuring 5.0 and 5.1 jolted Davao Oriental early Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Both of the earthquakes occurred in Banganga, Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake was traced 63 kilometers northeast of Banganga, Davao Oriental. It transpired at around 5:39 a.m., and it was tectonic in origin.
State seismologists say the earthquake was registered at Intensity I in the City of Bislig, Surigao del Sur.
An Instrumental Intensity I was also recorded in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 5.0 quake, on the other hand, happened at around 4:19 a.m. at least 70 kilometers northeast of Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Article continues after this advertisementIt was initially recorded with a magnitude of 5.3, but Phivolcs later downgraded it to 5.0.
Based on the bulletin issued by Phivolcs, this 5.0 quake was felt at Intensity III in Lingig, Surigao del Sur, while it was recorded at Intensity II in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
Instrumental Intensity I was also felt in the City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur and the City of Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected from either earthquake. Aftershocks, however, may occur.
