After its petition questioning the legality of the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program (PUVMP) was dismissed by the Supreme Court on technicalities, a Metro Manila-based transport group said on Thursday that it would file an appeal.

Federation of Free Workers (FFW) president Sonny Matula said that Bayyo Association Inc. president Anselm Perweg, through the group’s lawyers, would be filing a motion for reconsideration soon.

“With due respect to the Supreme Court, the fight is not yet over. We are coordinating with our lawyers in the FFW and we will file a motion for reconsideration of our case,” Perweg said.

“We will drown in debt if the PUVMP is implemented in its present form as we cannot afford to pay for a P2-million new jeepney unit,” he added. —JEROME ANING
