Missing elderly man allegedly drowned in Calamba city river

LUCENA CITY – An 82-year-old charcoal maker who had been missing since March 13 was found dead.

The victim allegedly drowned in a river in Calamba city, Laguna on Saturday, March 16.

The Police Region 4A in a report Sunday, March 17, identified the person as Marcelino Ramos.

His body was found by his son, Warlito, 42, submerged in a river in Barangay (village) Real at around 8 a.m.

Warlito reported the matter to the police station around 11:30 a.m.

According to Warlito, his father left their house on March 13 at about 11 a.m. and went to the riverside to make charcoal but the elderly did not return.

The police did not provide information if the missing person was reported to the authorities.

Police are conducting further investigation.

The remains of the victim will be subjected to a post-mortem examination and autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

For now, police recorded the incident as a case of “alleged drowning.”
