“The first day of the no-operations period will be dedicated to the train movement simulation from LRT-1 Cavite Extension stations to the existing LRT-1 Gil Puyat Station,” LRMC chief operating officer Rolando Paulino III said in a statement on Monday.

“For the remaining days, our Engineering Team will conduct the essential maintenance activities to allow us to improve capacity and performance across the line, enabling us to serve our LRT-1 passengers with [a] better, more reliable transport system,” he added.

Normal operations will resume on April 1 (Monday), with first trips at 4:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, prior to the maintenance activity, regular operating hours will be maintained on March 25 (Holy Monday) and March 26 (Holy Tuesday).

“Commuters are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly this Holy Week to minimize inconvenience during the temporary suspension of operations,” said the LRMC.

The LRT-1 suspension of operations will come a day earlier than the plans of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) to suspend their own operations for maintenance activities.
