Taguig donates fire trucks, motorcycles, equipment to city’s BFP

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City local government unit (LGU) handed over three fire trucks, eight motorcycles and other equipment to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Taguig on Tuesday as part of its Fire Prevention Month campaign.

These vehicles will be utilized by the bureau for firefighting and responding to medical emergencies within the city.

“Each fire truck has a large 500-gallon water tank, ensuring ample supply for combating fires. Another key feature of the trucks is the high-powered fire pump, which can move more water quickly during response,” the Taguig lgu said in a Facebook post.

The trucks’ hose compartment can also hold up to 500 feet of hose and has roller-shutter cabinets for storing firefighting tools and equipment.

The lgu added that the vehicles are also equipped with a public address system, a motor siren, spotlights, a strobe light bar, and revolving lights.

“Essential equipment like hoses, fireman’s gear, suction hoses, nozzles, wrenches, and safety gear are also onboard for emergencies,” it further said.

Meanwhile, each motorcycle comes with a fire extinguisher and a storage box intended for carrying medical supplies.

“Ang araw po na ito ay araw ng pagpapahalaga natin sa kahandaan ng City Government sa pagtama po sa atin ng mga kalamidad, partikular po ng sunog,” said Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano during the turnover ceremony, which coincides with the City Fire Olympics.

(Today is a day of recognizing our city government’s readiness to address calamities, particularly fires.)
