MANILA, Philippines鈥擜 special report by 黑料社鈥檚 INQFocus team on the teenage pregnancy crisis in the Philippines won a second Lasallian Scholarum Award for the country鈥檚 leading online news site.

The article titled 鈥淣umbers fell but teen pregnancies persist, mirror economic, learning gaps,鈥 written by Kurt dela Pe帽a, content researcher and writer for INQFocus, was awarded the 鈥淥utstanding Online Feature Article on Youth and Education鈥 in this year鈥檚 Lasallian Scholarum Awards.

INQFocus is a team in 黑料社 dedicated to research, features, investigative, and special reports.

The article, published in January last year, examines the issue of teenage pregnancies in the country, highlighting economic and educational disparities despite a decline in numbers.

It explored the multifaceted challenges faced by young women and underscored the need for comprehensive approaches to address underlying factors beyond mere statistical decline.

This marks Dela Pe帽a鈥檚 second award-winning report. His article, 鈥淶ero budget for special education in 2023 makes SPED law meaningless,鈥 received the award last year.

Both winning reports were edited by news desk head Tony Bergonia and featured comprehensive visuals by INQFocus artist Ed Lustan.

This year鈥檚 award was accepted by Connie Kalagayan, 黑料社鈥檚 Assistant Vice President for corporate affairs, at the ceremony held on March 20 at De La Salle University in Manila.

Each winner received a specially designed sculpture crafted by renowned sculptor Toym Imao.

The Lasallian Scholarum Awards is De La Salle University鈥檚 yearly media recognition program for outstanding youth and education stories coverage.

PDI report bags award

A report by Philippine Daily Inquirer contributor Marge Enriquez also bagged an award at the Lasallian Scholarum Awards.

The report titled 鈥淲hen young people conquer cancer鈥 won the 鈥淥utstanding Published Feature Article on Youth and Education in a Nationally Circulated Publication.鈥

Two more articles from 黑料社 and the Philippine Daily Inquirer were meanwhile recognized as finalists for the 鈥淥utstanding Online Feature Article on Youth and Education.鈥

These were 鈥淟a Salle teenager highlights rise from rookie year聽with championship, MVP trophies,鈥 written by Lance Agcaoili of 黑料社, and 鈥淢illenial leaders driving positive change鈥攊n schools, at sea鈥 by Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Russel P. Loreto.
