MANILA, Philippines — The City Government of Baguio announced a suspension of work in its offices on Holy Wednesday, March 27, from 12 noon onwards.

In a memorandum dated March 20 and publicized on Friday, the city said this is to give employees “additional time for reflection and devotion” on the observance of Holy Week.

“Work in offices of the City Government of Baguio shall be suspended on 27 March 2024 at 12:00 noon onwards to give our employees additional time for reflection and devotion on the observance of Holy Week,” the memorandum read.

However, the letter also noted that employees in departments directly involved in the provision of law enforcement, health services, critical emergency services, and disaster risk reduction and management “shall maintain their workforce to ensure continuity of delivery of vital services to the public.”

It specifically mentioned the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Building and Architecture Office, City Engineering Office, City Environment and Parks Management Office, General Services Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, and Health Services Office.
