MANILA, Philippines鈥擵ice President Sara Duterte is continuously praying for peace and unity in the country. She enjoined Filipinos to draw inspiration this Holy Week to carry on with聽鈥渙ur Godly and democratic aspirations鈥� for the country.
鈥�My prayer includes peace and unity for our country,鈥� Duterte said in Filipino in a Lenten message released on Holy Monday.
鈥�Let us be inspired by this opportunity to continue our Godly and democratic aspirations for the people and build a peaceful country,鈥� she added.

Duterte also urged Filipino Christians to reflect on Jesus Christ鈥檚 sacrifices and good deeds to strengthen their faith.
鈥�His pure greatness and love for all of us [are] written in the Bible. This is the reason why He obeyed the will of God the Father to be crucified and offer His life,鈥� she said.
鈥�Therefore, I wish that during this period of our meditation, we remember His goodness. Let鈥檚 keep His sacrifices in our hearts and minds, and let鈥檚 continue to strengthen our faith,鈥� she added.
Holy Week is the most sacred week in the Catholic Church鈥檚 liturgical calendar. The flock commemorates events leading up to Jesus Christ鈥檚 passion, death, and resurrection. It is likewise the time when Christians are encouraged to repent for their sins.
