After Holy Week break, another possible long weekend for Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines — After the declaration of Eid’l Fitr on Wednesday, April 10 as a holiday, the public may enjoy another long weekend starting tomorrow, Saturday, April 6.

It should, however, be noted that Monday, April 8, is not a public holiday.

But for those with no work on Monday or those planning to take a leave on that day, the long weekend will last for a total of five days.

This is due to the Araw ng Kagatingan, or “Day of Valor,” already declared by Malacañang as a holiday, falling on Tuesday, April 9.

This long weekend comes just a week after the observance of Holy Week, where the public also enjoyed a long weekend from March 28, Maundy Thursday, until Easter Sunday.

While April 8 not being a holiday has “eclipsed” the possibility of a five-day rest for those who have work on Mondays, a rare total solar eclipse is also set to occur on the same day, rousing the scientific community and celestial event enthusiasts.
