Bangsamoro dep’t slams ambush that killed logistics exec

The Ministry of Social Services and Development in the Bangsamoro condemned the armed attack that killed its logistics officer in Datu Odin Sinsuat town of Maguindanao del Norte on Wednesday, April 17.

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) in the Bangsamoro condemned the armed attack that killed its logistics officer in Datu Odin Sinsuat town of Maguindanao del Norte on Wednesday, April 17.

Christhea Angela Aragoncillo, 27, logistics management officer of the MSSD of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and two other women officemates had just left the MSSD Maguindanao field office in Barangay Semba and were on their way home to this city when they were attacked by a gunman on a motorcycle upon reaching Barangay Broce around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Colonel Salman Sapal, Maguindanao police provincial director.

He said Aragoncillo, a resident of Barangay Rosary Heights 10 in this city, was driving a white Toyota Veloz car, with officemates Norhana Ado of Barangay Tanuel and Nancy Lu of Barangay Awang onboard when attacked by a gunman on a motorcycle.

Aragoncillo died on the spot while Ado, one of her companions, was injured, Sapal said. Lu escaped unscathed.

Police investigators have yet to determine the motive of the attack, but Sapal believed it could be work-related.

He urged those who had any information about the incident to help the police identify and arrest the perpetrator.

“There is no space for such senseless killing in the Bangsamoro region,” Minister Raisa Jajurie said in a statement. “We condemn in the strongest terms this affront to workers in the field of social services. While the identity of the assailant is yet to be determined, we are closely working with the authorities in their investigation to hopefully serve justice,” she added.

She urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to be more discerning as a show of respect to Aragoncillo’s family in their hour of grief.
