MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Risa Hontiveros has renewed her call to the Philippine National Police to step up its efforts in locating the whereabouts of fugitive preacher Apollo Quiboloy, who has three pending arrest warrants on charges of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation and discrimination.

“Not one, not two, but wait, there’s more. There are already three warrants against him—one from a court in Davao, another from Pasig, which is for a non-bailable offense, and also the arrest warrant from the Senate,” Hontiveros said in a radio interview on Sunday.

“And he hasn’t been arrested yet. That’s why I’m again appealing to the new PNP chief, Police Gen. Rommel Marbil, to step up and respect the warrants they had served and have Quiboloy arrested. There could be a failure of intelligence if it takes this long to locate his whereabouts,” she added.

The Senate arrest warrant was issued after Quiboloy repeatedly ignored two subpoenas for him to attend the hearings.

Hontiveros also reiterated her call to the PNP to revoke and cancel the embattled leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ’s license to own and possess firearms, stressing that he is “armed and dangerous.”

“What are they waiting for? It’s all over social media that Quiboloy has a private army. They are ready to lay down their lives for him, they are ready to use their firearms to protect Quiboloy. He is actually a threat to our country’s peace and order,” she said.

Sen. Robinhood Padilla, meanwhile, renewed his call for the Senate to conduct an investigation of the continued indefinite suspension of Sonshine Media Network International.
