MANILA, Philippines — The rains in some parts of the country over the past few days are “precursory signs” of the transition to the wet season, an official from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday.

However, Pagasa’s Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section Chief Ana Liza Solis told that they are still monitoring if the country is now officially transitioning from the dry to the wet season.

Solis earlier explained that the Philippines may have already logged the highest actual temperature for 2024 last April 27, when a sizzling 40.3°C was recorded in Tarlac.

“Hopefully, we have already reached the hottest, most intense temperature for these dry and warm season months,” said Solis in a Radyo 630 interview.

She added that the public must not be complacent, as there is still a 50 percent probability that the country will log a higher temperature until the end of the first two weeks of May.
