MANILA, Philippines — The Visayas grid was placed on yellow alert from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
According to the NGCP’s announcement, the Visayas grid has an available capacity of 2,926 megawatts (MW) and a peak demand of 2,596 MW.

It also reported that 14 power plants were forced to shut down between April and May 2024, while five others were running at derated capacities.
As a result, 613.3 MW are unavailable, it added.

Likewise, the Visayas grid was placed on yellow alert on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
