Police nab 2 moonlighting SAF members following a fistfight

MANILA, Philippines — Two Mindanao-based members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were arrested for reportedly causing trouble in a village in Ayala, Alabang over the weekend.

In a report on Monday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Ayala-Alabang Police Sub-Station 5 received a complaint from a security guard patrolling the village about the two men.

They were identified as Corporal George Rojo Mabuti and Patrolman Roger Ramos Valdez.

The individuals were allegedly serving as bodyguards of a Chinese.

The police report revealed that the two were seen engaging in a fistfight within the neighborhood, causing a disturbance in the area around 3:15 p.m. on May 18.

Eventually, the police said Mabuti reportedly fled the scene and sought refuge in one of the homes in the village, causing alarm and panic among the residents.

Mabuti was assigned to the 52nd Special Action Company Zamboanga while Valdez was assigned to the 55th Special Action Company Zamboanga.

They, however, were not rendering official duties within their units.

The two are currently under Muntinlupa City Police Station’s custody, and a case of alarm and scandal has already been filed against them.

In a press briefing also on Monday, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced that the police personnel were already relieved from their posts.

They will also face administrative charges for “neglect of duty and misconduct for moonlighting and unauthorized provision of VIP security including their Head of Office/Commander.”
