PCG deploys rescue units for those affected by Aghon

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday that it has deployed its rescue units for people who may be affected by Tropical Depression Aghon.

According to the PCG, more than 3,000 passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers were stranded in parts of Visayas and Mindanao due to the weather disturbance.

The PCG added that 50 vessels, five motorbancas, and more than 660 rolling cargoes were also in the areas above.

“CG Admiral [Ronnie] Gavan also instructed PCG units to coordinate with other rescue agencies and observe the fastest response time in responding to maritime incidents,” CG Rear Admiral Balilo said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the PCG likewise urged fisherfolk not to set out to sea for the duration of the inclement weather.
