OCD: Report of another death due to Aghon raises total to 6

MANILA, Philippines — Another fatality due to Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar) was reported to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The agency said in a statement Tuesday that the additional death was reported in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) region.

According to the OCD, five of the six reported fatalities were from Calabarzon, while the other one was from Northern Mindanao. However, only one has been by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Also, on Tuesday, the NDRRMC issued a situational report on Aghon, showing that it received reports that eight people were wounded due to the typhoon.

Aghon hit land nine times since it became a tropical depression over the weekend. It caused flooding in several parts of Luzon and Visayas.

As of 5:00 a.m. on May 28, the state weather agency lifted all Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals due to Aghon as it moved away from the Philippine landmass.
