LUCENA CITY — A suspected drug pusher was shot and killed in an alleged encounter with police in San Juan town in Batangas province on Tuesday, a report said on Wednesday, May 29.
The Region 4A police said that drug suspect “Balot” was slain during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lipahan around 7 p.m.
The report said the suspect sensed that he was dealing with an undercover cop during the transaction.
Balut reportedly pulled out a caliber .38 revolver and shot at the team of anti-illegal drug operatives but missed his targets.
The cops returned fire and hit the suspect, who suffered bullet wounds. He was taken to the San Juan District Hospital but died on the way.

The police found the suspect’s gun loaded with two empty shells and four bullets.
Authorities also recovered from Balut two plastic sachets of shabu (crystal meth) worth P34,000.
In another report, local anti-narcotic operatives in Bacoor City, Cavite busted “Boss,” “Joel,” and “Ritchie” in a drug sting operation around 2 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Molino 2.
The suspects, all classified as “high value” targets in the government’s drug war, yielded five sachets of meth weighing 39 grams and worth P275,200.
The operatives also found Joel carrying a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three bullets.
All suspects are under police custody and will face a formal complaint of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Joel will be slapped with another case for possession of an illegal firearm.
