MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit waters off Davao Occidental on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 75 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, and was recorded at exactly 6:54 a.m.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 97 kilometers.

Instrumental Intensity I was felt in Kiamba, Malungon, and Gian towns of Sarangani province; and in Digos City in Davao del Sur.
Phivolcs said no damage is expected from the temblor, but aftershocks may occur.
