Pagasa expects southwest monsoon to bring rains in areas in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to bring scattered rain showers in western parts of Luzon, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies on Sunday, according to the state weather service.

In a morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) habagat and localized thunderstorms will mainly affect the country.

“Patuloy pa rin umiiral ang southwest monsoon sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon kung saan ngayon at sa susunod na araw ay magdudulot pa rin ito ng mga kalat kalat na pag-ulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat dito sa bahagi ng Palawan,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa ay patuloy tayo makararanas ng bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan. Meron lamang tayong mga tsansa ng mga isolated na pag-ulan dulot ng habagat at localized thunderstorms,” she added.

(Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.)

Castañeda also reported that Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance that may affect the country in the following days.

She further said no gale warning was raised on the country’s seaboards.
