MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan is likely to run for the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Siguro (maybe) on a scale of one to 10, [there is a probability of] eight [to] nine [for me to] go back to the Senate,” Honasan told in a chance interview in San Juan City.

Honasan became a senator from 1995 to 2004, and again from 2007 to 2019.

The former senator also led the launch of a new political party called Reform PH Party.

It consists of other members of the Reformed Armed Forces Movement and the Magdalo Party.

“We have to decide as a party kung ano ang gagawin ko,” Honasan said.

He also noted the party is consolidating the line-up for the elections.

Honasan said the party may ask former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and former Senate President Vicente Sotto to join them.

“Matataas naman sa survey,” Honasan said about Lacson and Sotto’s popularity among voters.
