MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Tuesday announced that its study on the possible increase of government workers’ salary is targeted to for compeletion before the end of June 2024.

The results of the Compensation and Benefits Study, the DBM said in a statement, will serve as the basis for the Total Compensation Framework of civilian government personnel.

“Once the study is finalized, the consultant commissioned by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) will present the accepted study results both to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the GCG,” the DBM said.

The DBM reiterated its “readiness” to support the implementation of the salary adjustment once it is approved.

“We will find a way to fund its implementation, subject to excess revenue to be collected by the national government,” it said.

The DBM said the study explores several aspects of the current compensation system, including salaries, benefits and allowances.

It also seeks to establish a “fair and sustainable pay structure” for government workers, while considering the effects of inflation.
