President Marcos has named singer-turned-politician Anthony Castelo as vice chair and chief operating officer of the Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Co., a state firm controlled by the Presidential Commission on Good Government.
His designation was announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on its Facebook page on Thursday.

The singer, whose hits in the 1970s included 鈥淏alatkayo,鈥 鈥淗ahanapin Ko,鈥 and 鈥淣ang Dahil sa Pag-Ibig,鈥 was a known supporter of Mr. Marcos鈥 father and namesake, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
A former Quezon City councilor, Castelo is the second singer and Marcos loyalist to be named recently to a government post.

Known as 鈥淎sia鈥檚 Sentimental Songstress,鈥 Papin even joined the Marcos family when they fled to Hawaii after the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution.
