The two cases were then consolidated, while the cases were heard on February 21.
“Whereas, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, after thorough scrutiny of the Committee’s Consolidated Recommendation, strongly holds that there is sufficient evidence to penalize Respondent Alzona with a suspension of twelve (12) months, thereby adopting in toto the abovementioned Recommendation,” the resolution read.

In a phone interview with , Alzona said the suspension period was “disproportionate” for the allegations.
“Siyempre it’s sad ‘no (Of course it’s sad), number one, I think it’s disproportionate to what the allegations are or offenses, parang I think 12 months is too long naman,” Alzona said.
Alzona likewise said that it was a case of command responsibility where the treasury was unable to serve a memorandum to the two employees.
“Ang pagkakamali ng sa treasury ay hindi naserve sa kanila ‘yong mga note na ’yon and well, though it’s not my fault, pero it’s a parang command responsibility so akin pa rin lalanding,” he added.
(The mistake of the treasury is that the note was not served to the employees personally, and though it’s not my fault, it’s a case of command responsibility, so it falls on me.)
He added that his legal team will be studying their next steps.
