MANILA, Philippines — Motorists plying parts of Mindanao Ave. between Congressional Ave. and Tandang Sora Ave should brace for heavier traffic since portions of the thoroughfare will be closed starting June 29, Saturday.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday said this was to make way for the construction of the Tandang Sora station of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).

DOTr said light vehicles can utilize constructed diversion roads to offset the closure of the outer lane of Mindanao Avenue.

“Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion in the construction area,” the DOTr said in a statement. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The construction of MMSP began last year and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.

The DOTr then clarified that no road closure would be implemented as a result of the tunnel boring activities.
