MANILA, Philippines — A 50-year-old woman, initially reported to have “jumped” onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 on Tuesday afternoon, actually lost consciousness and fell onto the train tracks, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
MPD’s clarification came after the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) earlier reported that a female passenger jumped onto the tracks while a train was approaching the southbound lane of Doroteo Jose Station.

LRMC said the incident caused the temporary suspension of LRT-1’s operations while the woman was brought to the nearest hospital.
Based on MPD’s report, the victim was “casually waiting” for the train bound for Baclaran Station when she lost consciousness and “fell noticeably” onto the railways.
It added that the woman has a health history of hypertension and stroke, according to her live-in partner’s account.
Police said the passenger is still confined at the hospital and undergoing medical treatment.
