MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Almost P11 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed in Tinglayan, Kalinga, over the weekend, the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said Monday.
According to PDEG, its operatives in the Cordillera Administrative Region, with the assistance of the Tinglayan Municipal Police, discovered the plants along Barangay Ngibat.

Authorities said the operation on Sunday, June 30, resulted in the uprooting of 54,500 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated standard price of P10,900,000.
They added that the plants were being grown on a 5,450-square meter land.

A police report also revealed that all seized marijuana were burned in compliance with the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEG, however, said that 鈥渘o cultivator was apprehended during the conduct of the operation.鈥
