DepEd starts enrollment in public schools

MANILA, Philippines — The enrollment period in all public schools for School Year (SY) 2024-2025 officially began on Wednesday, July 3.

It will last until July 26, according to Memorandum 32 s. 2024 from the Department of Education (DepEd).

Public elementary and secondary school enrollment, including community learning centers, shall be conducted in person, remotely, or by dropbox.

The DepEd said private schools, state or local universities and colleges, and Philippine schools overseas that offer primary education may adopt their own enrollment procedures.

This, however, must remain in compliance with DepEd’s policies or school manuals.

The SY 2024-2025 will begin on Monday, July 29, and end on Friday, May 16, 2025.

The Palace announced on Tuesday that Senator Sonny Angara will take the role of education secretary on July 19 after Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from the post.

“The DepEd community looks forward to working with the new leadership as we continue our relentless pursuit towards improving the quality of basic education in the country,” it said in a statement.

Angara’s appointment was also supported by the education reform advocacy group Philippine Business for Education.
