MANILA, Philippines — Several malls on Wednesday opened their doors to people affected by heavy rains and floods caused by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the southwest monsoon.

The following malls announced that overnight parking, WiFi access, and charging stations will be free on July 24:

Meanwhile, Ayala Malls said that “designated waiting areas and restrooms are accessible beyond mall operating hours, and overnight parking fees are waived” in the following malls:

  • Ayala Malls Marikina
  • Ayala Malls Feliz
  • Ayala Malls Fairview Terraces

The company also said Ayala Malls Cloverleaf and Ayala Malls Trinoma will close at 6 p.m. due to unfavorable weather but “designated waiting areas, restrooms, and charging stations will remain accessible for mallgoers to wait out the storm.”

Additionally, Filinvest Malls said it was committed to providing a safe space for those seeking temporary shelter and offered access to charging stations, restrooms, and waived overnight parking in the following malls:

  • Festival Mall Alabang
  • Main Square Bacoor
    • Subway – until 5:00 p.m.
    • Robinsons Supermarket – until 10:00 p.m.
    • Starbucks – until 12:00 a.m.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said further intensified on Wednesday morning and is expected to make landfall in Taiwan in the afternoon or evening.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was raised over Batanes, while TCWS No. 1 was up in the Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Cagayan, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
